Join SLAC for a Utah premiere nearly 15 years in the making! A 2008 Tony Award and Drama Desk winner, Passing Strange is a poignant, one-of-a-kind storytelling experience. Through powerful music and soulful lyrics, Passing Strange transcends theatrical genres and follows a Black artist simply referred to as “The Youth” around the world on a bohemian journey of self-discovery. Don’t miss this rarely-produced gem from the brilliant minds of Stew, Heidi Rodewald, and Annie Dorsen.
UBLAC presents African American artists and their work throughout the state of Utah. The organization promotes diversity in the arts by supporting Black artists, musicians, dancers, and creatives, also mentoring and encouraging youth to share their unique voices through creativity.
Curly Me! is a 501 (c)(3) resource for families with children of color, specifically black girls between the ages of 5-14 years. The organization holds quarterly events and mentoring opportunities to help educate, empower and encourage girls to be their best selves.
The Utah Black History Museum is committed to promote the understanding, appreciation, and advancement of the Black experience in Utah through programming, exhibits, and activities that teach local and national Black history and celebrate the culture of the African Diaspora in the United States.
Black, Bold & Brilliant (BBB) is proudly presented by Utah Film Center with support from KRCL. The program focuses on authentic and nuanced representation through film critique and discussions led by Black Utahns. Black, Bold & Brilliant guides audiences through their reflections and responses on issues affecting the Black community by using cinema as a mirror to draw upon local voices, artists, experts, and partners.
