Description

When Jill and Ollie, a young expecting couple in suburban London, are suspiciously handed a free spacious yet dilapidated home, they discover the path to renovation is potentially damning.

Salt Lake Acting Company's Making Space for Artists Program was inspired by SLAC's spirit of collaboration and commitment to being a resource to our community. Through this program, artists are given access to SLAC's historic building, a trusted space with guidance and support from SLAC’s staff, the choice of two theatre spaces, technical equipment, and ticketing services.

What is Radiant Vermin?

Radiant Vermin began as a U of U senior project in the Actor's Training Program last Spring 2023, originally created  with the goal to raise awareness for Salt Lake's escalating homeless crisis, the play has garnered support by the collaborative efforts of both SLAC's Making Space For Artists Program, and Flying Bobcat Theatre Company. The provocative satire challenges societal perspectives on homelessness, urging audiences to reflect on their own morals through the lens of Jill and Ollie’s transformative journey. The play's relevance is underscored by recent data from the Utah Office of Homeless Services, which revealed a 10% increase in newly homeless individuals during fiscal 2022. Radiant Vermin promises a unique and impactful experience.

Philanthropic Goal

Beyond the stage, Radiant Vermin is not just a performance but a call to action the show is being used as an opportunity to help our vulnerable homeless population, and will be used as a drive to collect physical and financial donations for the INN Between and the 4th Street Clinic in Salt Lake City, UT.
